Our Agency

The Social Empowerment Center is full service mental health and social service agency. Our goals include involving community, family and neighborhood resources to support families through difficulties that frequently involve court ordered services. We are a Georgia DFCS provider, a Medicaid provider, we accept most private insurances, and we have a contract that allow us to provide mental health services to uninsured people, including those who are undocumented.

We are honored to provide services that strengthen children and families, which in turn strengthens communities.
Who Are We?
FEATURED STAFF:

Marshalee Jackson - Therapist

Marshalee is one of our amazing therapists. She has worked with SEC for 3 years and has become our clutch therapist for our most difficult cases as she is always up for a challenge.

Becky Martin - Community Support Individual

Becky is one of our hardest working CSIs. She has worked with SEC for 6 years and she's so committed to her clients that she converted her garage into a resource center with books, activities, and games for the children she works with. Her motto is, "Working hard for something you don't care about is called stress. Working hard for something you love is called passion."

Terris Thomas - Parent Aide

Terris is one of our most requested parent aides because of her strong yet
compassionate approach. She has worked with SEC for almost 4 years. She says, "I love that my job is service-oriented and I'm able to help others, which in turn helps me."

Ismail Mumin - Transporter

Ismail is one of our transporters who proudly travels from one end of Georgia to another, day and night. He has worked with SEC for 4 years. He acknowledges that it is sometimes emotionally challenging to drive children to their new foster home but he says, "Turning one child's frown into a smile is what motivates me."

Shelia Lindsey - Office Manager
Shelia is one of our agency's treasures. She has worked with SEC for 9 years and is the go-to person for everything. She believes we can change the world just by being kind and helping others. She says she always tries to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud. (Maya Angelou)
